alles neu macht der Oktober! Im Oktober ist das Quartalsupdate für Exchange Server erschienen, allerdings ausschließlich für Exchange Server 2016! Exchange Server 2010 und 2013 befinden sich in der Extended Support Phase und erhalten, nach aktuellem Stand, keine URs / CUs mehr. Das ist jedoch nicht in Stein gemeißelt.

Exchange Server 2016 CU11

Exchange Server 2016 Cumulative Update 11 (KB4134118), Download, UM Lang Packs

.Net 4.7.2

Mit der Veröffentlichung von CU11 für Exchange Server 2016 wird auch das aktuelle .Net 4.7.2 unterstützt, das übrigens ab Juni 2019 für alle CU-Stände Pflicht wird. Für Exchange Server 2019 wird .Net 4.7.2 Pflicht, wobei die einzig unterstütze Windows Server-Version „Server 2019“ .Net 4.7.2 im Standard installiert.

Exchange Server 2013 CU 21 ist bereits fit für .Net 4.7.2!

Visual C++

In dem Cumulative Update von Juni 2018 wurde die Visual C++  Runtime 2013 Pflicht.

Alle Exchange Server Rollen benötigen ab CU11 zwingend „Visual C++ 2012 Runtime.“ Vor der CU-Installation muss diese Komponente also unbedingt installiert werden:

With today’s release we are updating the Visual C++ runtime version dependencies on Exchange Server 2016. Effective with Cumulative Update 11, all Exchange Server 2016 roles (Management Tools, Mailbox, Edge) will require installation of Visual C++ 2012 runtime. This is a change from Cumulative Update 10 where Visual C++ 2013 was incorrectly listed as being required on all roles. Visual C++ 2013 runtime, in addition to Visual C++ 2012, is required on the Mailbox role only.

Versions of Exchange setup before Cumulative Update 11 silently installed Visual C++ 2010 and 2012 components. Exchange setup has been changed in Cumulative Update 11 and later to enforce the Visual C++ runtime requirements using setup pre-requisite rules. When installing Cumulative Update 11 or later for the first time on an existing server, setup will detect the presence of the previously installed instances of Visual C++ placed there by Exchange setup and will not indicate that the Visual C++ 2012 runtime needs to be installed.

Mit Exchange Server 2019 wird die Installation von VC++ 2012 bei der Vorabprüfung eingeführt.

Bei einem Updatestand von CU7 musste ich C++ 2012 und C++2013 installieren, um auf CU11 upgraden zu können.

Schema Update

Mit der Aktualisierung auf CU11 wird keine Schema-Erweiterung ausgeführt. Somit war die letzte Schema-Erweiterung für Exchange Server 2016 für CU7.

Dennoch muss das Setup mit einem Administrator ausgeführt werden, der eine /PrepareAD Berechtigung hat, da die RBAC-Rollen geprüft werden.
